Tge Lavvu would make an awesome shelter even for three! Can't wait to take it to Iceland!

The silver umbrella is something on my want-to-have list. But my old one resists to get broken so I think I have to use it a little longer before I'll get a new shiny one...

As for the umbrella: I'm sure you'll love it once you tried it!
The one we use is the "Swing Liteflex" from Euroschirm.com weighting ~200 gramms!
It's designed by a german company and sold under theyr own label as well as under labels like GoLite, VauDe, etc. ;-)
You could order them directly at www.euroschirm.com
They've got several colours available but although I don't own this myself I would choose the silver one. Improving it's function when used for sunprotection as well as preventing brain-attacks by alien invaders! ;-)

I think an umbrella in the UK climate would be invaluable; I am certainly interested in which one you use?

Feel free to ask! It's been a great trip. Should I do this route again I would probaply change one or two minor details. But all in all it's been a lot of fun!

The umbrellas are indeed covered by the leightweight rules! ;-)

Umbrellas are mulitiuse items! Raincover, sunprotection, windscreen (while cooking), tarppole, tarpdoor, packcover etc.
And they enable one to use just a windshirt even in heavy rain! No condensation problems as with membrane jackets. Meaning we don't overheat while hiking! We use our waterproofs only in a few situations which enables us to use even lighter waterproof jackets! (Don't need to be as durable as the ones you would wear all day)

That looks like a totally fab trip. Having done the Caledonian Challenge a couple of years ago, the WHW brings back some fairly intense memories for me, I would love the chance to explore it in a more relaxed timeframe. I'm intrigued by the use of Umbrellas there though - please explain?! Surely this is against the lightweight rules ;)
