I've always been thinking about a hood. But even on my waterproofs I tend to avoid wearing it. I love to feel the wind around my head, blowing through my (less and lesser) hair. ;-)

I'm very glad that you like the review. There are indeed some very good UK brands. Montane is one of my all time favourites!
Rab offers some fine products, too.
My prefered shoes are made by Inov8!
And last but not least there's the legendary Paramo (although I'd never had the chance to test one of these fine garments myself).

Great review Seb! I have a Montane Featherlite Velo Jacket and it is my go to jacket for cycling and running. It's also nice to still have a British brand that still makes stuff. Excellent review as always.

Grundsätzlich spricht nix dagegen. Viele Sachen von Montane sind eh eher unisex geschnitten. Auf den Fotos hat meine Frau übrigens auch einen Featherlight Smock an (in grün) und ist damit sehr zufrieden!
HelenJFisher hat in ihrem Kommentar ja auch erwähnt, dass sie eine ähnliche Jacke von Montane trägt.
Zu Beachten ist lediglich, dass die ganz neuen Sachen von Montane etwas schlanker und sportlicher geschnitten sind (hauptsächlich im Schulter und Brustbereich). Ein Fleece kriege ich aber auch da noch gut drunter!

ein sehr schöner Bericht. Direkt auch eine Frage (eher an Deine Frau): Kann frau das Ding auch tragen? Es scheint ja ein Herrenmodell zu sein. Allerdings habe ich bisher nichts Vergleichbares für Damen gefunden.

Thanks for your comment. It's indeed a pity that Montane still offers only a handful of garments made of Pertex Quantum. There are other brands who do offer clothes made of this great material. But still using the classic Pertex in the Featherlight Smock keeps the price low. But nontheless even with the "heavy" Pertex the smock is still ultralightweight and withstands nearly everything you may possibly encounter in the wild outdoors!

Great report I love my Montane Aero (Pertex Quantum, sadly no longer made) I bring it out on big trips where weight is critical, such as Lapland last year and this year. Montane offers indeed some very fine products. Eg. the Montane Featherlight pants makes a good companion to their windshirts and is in itself a very great product.

Lovely report! I have a Montane Lite Speed which is used a lot. Montane seem like such a great quality, well thought out brand. It was interesting to read your comparisons against your old smock too. :)
